Linear unit surpasses required service life by more than Factor 2

In test number 428 of the igus® test laboratory, the wear behaviour of the special lead screw linear table was tested in a service life test. The special lead screw linear system was set up and tested in continuous operation under the following test parameters:

Test parameters:

stroke: 315 mm

load: 250 N (radial, centric)

Speed: 0.22 m/ sec.

pause time: 1 sec.

spindle: steep thread, 10 x 25 mm

lead screw nut: SWZ-W-3008 (length 30 mm)

Test setup: horizontal installation position

Test result:

Number of cycles achieved until cancellation: 544,000 cycles

Axial play after test: approx. 0.6 mm

Torque after test: 0.8 Nm

The linear unit was still in operation at the time the test was cancelled.

Power consumption for duration of test: 1. Electricity (A) | 2. Number of cycles

Current consumption over test duration: 1. current (A) | 2. number of cycles

Conclusion:
The tested linear unit exceeded the required service life by more than a factor of 2. 544,000 cycles were achieved instead of the required 200,000 cycles, or the test was cancelled.
