Internal partitions in e-chain®: Cable wear almost halved under the toughest conditions

A smooth, cable-friendly and rounded contour ensures a long service life for the cable and hose in the energy chain. Extensive testing in the igus®® laboratory has optimised the internal layouts and almost halved cable wear.

The key question was: To what extent can a difference in abrasion be determined when cables are pressed and moved against the crossbar under high pressure? To accelerate the test procedure, contact pressures were used that will not occur in reality. For this purpose, a special test rig was used to test cables with internal divisions of the "old" and "new" standard design over more than 850,000 double strokes.
