Underwater use means that the use of metal ball bearings is out of the question. The lubricant is washed out or decomposed by external influences and the ball bearings run dry. Metal ball bearing solutions in particular are dependent on the use of external lubricants to ensure a long service life. The problem lay in the search for corrosion-free ball bearings for additional guidance of the motor shaft under the propeller and the first shaft seal.

xiros deep groove ball bearings made from the xirodur® B180 material are used for the additional guidance of the motor shaft under the propeller and the first shaft seal. The demand for lubrication-free and corrosion-resistant solutions led to igus®. Another plus point is the suitability of the bearing for the smallest and hard-to-reach installation spaces. In the Poolwonder, the bearing is enclosed between two seals, making relubrication virtually impossible.
