Plain bearings for thermal management

The alternative to carbon graphite bearings in coolant pumps and valves

With the continuing trend towards BEV, PHEV and HEV, the importance of themanagement (TM) is increasing and with it the demands on the systems. igus® offers the right bearing for various TM applications such as water pumps and cooling water manufacturers and will be happy to support you in your selection.

Requirements for bearing in TM applications:

  • Resistance to water-glycol
  • Temperatures up to 150°C
  • No leakage over the service life
  • Resistant to contamination by moulding sand

Hydrodynamic and special plain bearings

We have various plastic plain bearings in our standard programme that are suitable for use in hydrodynamic lubrication. In addition, we also manufacture plain bearings in special designs with radial or axial grooves, which can ensure an even better flow of the water-glycol mixture.
